The nasolabial fold is a deep crease, accentuated by the passage of time, whose formation is caused by different factors such as the repeated contraction of the facial muscles, gravity favoured by the loss of the fatty compartments of the face or the reduction of substances in the dermis such as collagen, elastin and muscular dystrophy of the muscle groups in this area.
In the latter case, the pressure exerted on these muscles during sleep has a great influence, which is why we also call it the "pillow furrow".
For all these reasons, we must treat the nasolabial fold taking into account all its causes.
At Sensemal we analyse them and we will propose an appropriate treatment according to your needs which, on many occasions, will involve treating the middle third, trying to make up for the deficiencies we have mentioned above.
In these cases the treatment consists of injecting hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite (two biocompatible and biodegradable products) by means of cannula or needle injections at the level of the middle third of the face to exert a lifting effect, indirectly erasing the nasolabial fold, which we will treat, once attenuated, in a second phase.
The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia and does not usually last longer than 30-45 minutes.
The duration of the effect achieved is variable but can last up to 8 months after the first session.
No time off work or social leave is required after the treatment and the patient can return to normal activity immediately after the treatment.
